Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, references to "we," "our," and "us" mean Rewardsweb, Inc. We own and operate the website at https://www.rewardsweb.com/, the Rewardsweb platform, and the Rewardsweb Google Chrome browser extension (collectively, the "Website"). At a high level, the Website allows you to combine your rewards from various brand-loyalty programs (e.g., frequent-flyer accounts) and use them to purchase goods and services at various third-party websites. You can also combine rewards with credit-card payments to make purchases. Finally, the Website provides you with an opportunity to earn rewards for purchases from certain third parties. To enable this functionality, your personal information must be exchanged between us, your loyalty programs, and other third parties – as explained more fully below.

This Privacy Policy explains how and why we collect, use, and disclose information about you. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is to not use our Website. We reserve the right to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will not, however, retroactively change how we share your personal information without your consent. We will provide notice of any material changes through the Website or by other means as we deem appropriate before they take effect. Please check back periodically for any changes we may make to the Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the Website following the posting of changes to this Privacy Policy means you accept these changes.

2. Personal Information We Collect

When you use the Website, we may collect information—some of which may directly identify you—such as:

  • First and last name;

  • Username and password;

  • Email address;

  • Geographic location (country, state or province, city);

  • Unique device ID or other online identifier (e.g., cookie ID);

  • Browsing history on retail websites (i.e., sites where you can make purchases or use your rewards), and information regarding your interaction with the Website and our advertisements on the Website;

  • Payment information, such as credit card payment data (ONLY when used to combine rewards with credit-card payments to make purchases);

  • Personal information you choose to provide in comments, forums, and other narrative forms – such as our interactive support chat feature; and

  • Inferences drawn from the information outlined above to create a profile about you reflecting your preferences.

  • We may also collect information that by itself would not identify you but that, when combined with other information, could help identify you such as:

  • Age and gender identity (providing this is optional); and

  • Approximate (county and state/province) geolocation data based on IP address.

We refer to all the above-listed information that can directly or indirectly identify you as "personal information." We may also collect general information about the equipment you use to access the Website, your operating system and browser type, the services that you use, times and dates of your interactions with the Website, and software event data.

3. How We Collect Information

We may collect information:

Directly from you when you provide it, including by setting up an account and personal profile, installing our Google Chrome browser extension, and purchasing goods or services using the Website. Third-party merchants that are linked from our site will also provide us with purchase-related information if you have accessed their site through the Website.

Automatically as you interact with the Website, such as approximate location, data on browsing history and patterns, times and dates of logins, and event data.

From third parties, including analytics providers, that we use to operate the Website and its services.

If you elect to connect your Rewardsweb account with a loyalty program, we will also receive information from them – including:

  • Reward account/points balance;

  • Loyalty program status;

  • Whether you have a loyalty-program-branded payment card;

  • The country in which you registered for the loyalty program;

  • Reward account/points transaction history;

  • Loyalty program username; and

  • Tokenized log-in information.

  • From social media platforms linked from the Website, such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, and YouTube, if you “Like,” “Follow,” or otherwise interact with our page or profile on that platform.

We also use cookies, which are described briefly below and in our Website's cookie manager:

Cookies (or browser cookies). The Website uses cookies as explained below and in the cookie manager/consent manager on our Website. A "cookie" is a small file that we (or third parties) save on your computer or mobile device.

Our cookies help to give you faster access to pages you have already visited, and using cookies can keep you logged in to the Website if you select that option. Cookies may also help us customize our offerings to you. Many web browsers allow you to customize cookie options – such as disabling some cookies or alerting you when a cookie is being sent – but disabling cookies may affect your ability to access or use the Website.

4.How We Use Your Personal Information

We may use or disclose your information for one or more of the following business purposes:

Managing our Website and presenting its contents to you, and improving the Website's performance – including your experience on the Website when you return.

  • Providing the information, goods, and services you've requested or agreed to receive.

  • Providing you with information regarding your loyalty-program reward balances, and information regarding purchases you made through the Website, such as product(s) purchased, date of purchase, from whom you purchased the product, and what you paid for the product.

  • Enabling you to interact with Website features.

  • Enabling you to participate in promotions through the Website.

  • Administering your account.

  • Processing your online payments and reporting payment attempts to you.

  • Carrying out our obligations and enforcing our rights arising from any transactions entered into between you and us, including for billing, collection, and customer support. This includes, without limitation, enforcing our Terms of Use.

  • Informing you about new features of the Website.

  • Marketing our products and services to you.

  • For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information.

5. How We Share Information

We share transaction data with the relevant loyalty program and third parties that facilitate loyalty-program reward redemptions. So, for example, if you use the Website to make a purchase using the points from Loyalty Program A and Loyalty Program B, we will share information regarding that transaction, such as the goods or services purchased, with Loyalty Program A and Loyalty Program B. In addition, if you used a Loyalty Program A-branded credit card for the purchase, we will share that fact with Loyalty Program A – and the issuing bank associated with that card will also receive purchase-related information.

In addition, if you use a subdomain or page of https://www.rewardsweb.com/ that contains a brand-loyalty program's name or trademark in the URL, you should assume that we will share the information you provide at that subdomain or page with the relevant brand-loyalty program. For example, if you visit LoyaltyProgramA.rewardsweb.com, you should assume that we will share your personal information provided through your interaction with that subdomain with Loyalty Program A.

We may also share your browsing history on retail websites with loyalty programs so they know, for example, if you are searching for travel alternatives to their brand. The browsing history we collect may also include the sites you visit before and after you visit our Website. Please note that we do not have any control over the loyalty programs' policies or practices – so you should ensure that you have read and understand their policies and practices before becoming a loyalty program member.

We may share non-personally identifiable information, such as anonymized user statistics, with third parties without restriction. We also share information we have collected about you, including personal information, in the following circumstances:

Third Parties Providing Services on Our Behalf. We use third parties to host the Website, design and operate the Website features, and perform administrative, analytics, payment processing, advertising, and communications services. Services these parties provide include processing your payments made through the Website, enabling us to send you marketing materials by email, and providing information to us about the use of the Website and viewing of our content. We may disclose your personal information to these companies so they can carry out these business purposes on our behalf.

We use AWS Cognito to assist with secure Website access (i.e., multi-factor authentication). AWS Cognito may use cookies to expedite your log-in process.

Currently, we use the services listed below for analytics and ad-serving. Note that they may set and access their own cookies and web beacons on your device, and they may have access to related usage information. We provide links where you can access additional information on their practices.

6. Links to Other Websites, Social Media Platforms, Mobile Applications, and Services

We are not responsible for the practices employed by websites, social media platforms, mobile applications, or services linked to or from the Website, including the information or content contained therein. Nor are we responsible for the websites of third parties upon which our Google Chrome extension sits (e.g., although you may see a Rewardsweb tab while you are shopping on sites such as amazon.com, we have no control over or responsibility for such sites). This is true even if our Website encourages you to "Shop and Earn" or "Redeem Here" at certain third-party websites. So Please always remember that our Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, platforms, mobile applications, or services. Nor does this Privacy Policy apply to information we collect by other means (including offline) or from sources other than through the Website.

7. Security

Personal information is stored in secure operating environments that are not available to the public. Only those of our employees and agents who need access to your personal information to do their jobs are allowed access, each having signed confidentiality agreements or otherwise subject to a duty of confidentiality. Personal information is encrypted during storage and transmission, and our website uses the https protocol. We use tokenization services for payment-card information.

While we make reasonable efforts to safeguard your personal information once we receive it, no transmission of data over the Internet or any other public network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or information we transmit to you from the Website, and you assume all related risks.

We regularly review the information that we collect and store. We generally retain your personal information for only 30 days after you close your account (in case you close your account by mistake and would like to reactivate it). Or you may request that we delete your personal information at any time. In certain cases, we may be required to continue to retain your data to comply with applicable law or in connection with a legal claim.

8. Other Information

Lawful Bases. We collect and process your personal information only when we have a lawful basis to do so. Lawful bases include your consent, the fulfillment of our contractual rights or obligations, complying with applicable law, and the legitimate interests of Rewardsweb, Inc., or third parties (provided that processing your data for a legitimate interest does not outweigh your rights and freedoms). Examples of a legitimate interest include (a) analyzing user data to maintain and improve the Website for all users; (b) providing you with access to the Website and related goods and services; (c) providing you with up-to-date information about new features of the Website; (d) engaging third-party service providers to deliver certain features of the Website; and (e) complying with record retention laws or other legal obligations. You may withdraw your consent or object to a legitimate interest at any time by contacting us at the information provided below.

Cross-Border Transfer. The Website is hosted on servers in the United States. Any personal information you provide to us will be processed and stored on servers in the United States, the laws of which may be deemed by other countries to have inadequate data protection. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 16 has provided their personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete that information.

9. Your Choices and Privacy Rights; Our Contact Information

Your Choices. If you choose not to provide personal information, you may be unable to access or use the Website or certain Website features. For example, if you do not provide your name, you will be unable to create a Rewardsweb account. Regarding our Google Chrome browser extension, you can prospectively stop all personal information collection through that browser extension by uninstalling it. Because the browser extension permits data about your online behavior on that browser to be collected when installed, it must be uninstalled to withdraw your consent to this data collection. In some instances, you can opt out of certain data collection by updating your settings within the browser extension or your mobile device settings.

International Data-Privacy Laws. Withdrawing your consent to our processing of your personal information will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent. You should also be aware that if you do withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide certain services to you. Where this is the case, we will let you know at the time you withdraw your consent. Please note that even after you have withdrawn your consent, we may continue to process your personal information to the extent required or otherwise permitted by law, in particular, in connection with exercising and defending our legal rights or meeting our legal and regulatory obligations.
